- Abstract
Economics as part of the cultural activities of individual requires search for a new vision of its subject field. Economic theory can not be isolated from the moral, historical, social, and sometimes metaphysical contexts, as well as from neighboring disciplines such as sociology and philosophy. This article aims to show how it is possible and why it is necessary to interpret the economy as a culture. Heuristic potential of this approach is revealed by the example of recreating the “dispute onhow to” appeal to the ideas of the German historical school and institutionalism, and the attempt to comprehend the ontological foundations of modern capitalism.
