- Abstract
- The paper considers the interdependence between decentralization of governance and formation of political regimes. It investigates both possible causal channels – the impact of political system on the format of decentralization and the impact of decentralization and federalism on the structure of political system. It also addresses the role of further factors potentially modifying the nature of interdependence considered – particularly, of the international trade. It discusses the differences between formal and informal decentralization as factors of political transformation.
