- Abstract
- The author raises the question, within which theoretical paradigm the analysis of the existing type of society in Russia can be most effective and what is the national specificity of Russia, taking into account the chosen theoretical paradigm of research. This theoretical question is linked to the practical problem of data interpretation conducted by the IKSI RAS of sociological research. It is concluded that the most consistent Russian specificity is described by the modernization paradigm. From these positions, the Russian public consciousness is analyzed as being in the process of socio-cultural modernization. There is noted the Russian specificity in the attitude of the population to the problems of relations between the state, society and the individual, to the interpretation of democratic norms of life. The priority in this triad of the state is noted, provided that it takes into account the interests of individual groups and individuals. Only that state for Russians is considered legitimate, which in its activities carries out this accounting (from this point of view, the policy of the modern Russian state becomes a factor accelerating the modernization of the views of Russians). For the Russian consciousness, according to the author, the dominance of the social function of the state over the economic one is also characteristic. The twofold nature of Russian paternalism also stands out.
