Abstract
The article describes a pilot comparative study of Russian and American kindergarten teachers' ideas of the goals and values of their profession. The results presented demonstrate significant differences between American and Russian teachers in setting priorities, in perception of social situations, in the relationship between values and goals of their own activities. Тhe presence of a fundamental contradiction between the values and goals of professional activity for the majority of Russian teachers is identified and analyzed.
