- In this article, based on the results of longitude sociological investigations, the basic constantsof Russian mentality are brought to light. This is done in comparison with basic socioculturalcharacteristics of some other societies. In this context the author inspects the infl uence of nationalmentality on the choice of the way in which modernization is carried out.
