- On the basis of quantitative research the process of mass initiation to Orthodoxy in the postSoviet period, a basic understanding of the relationship of faith and the sacraments, especially themodern Orthodox religious practices are analyzed. The connection of the current anti-Westernism andanti-modernism of the ROC with grassroots processes in the society legitimized by the Putin regimeis considered. As the author shows, the parishioners are not the main concern of today bureaucratizedchurch which is openly connected with the government and in which conservative-fundamentalisttendencies triumphed.
