- Abstract
- The basic epistemological preconditions such as methodological individualism and holism and their role for interdisciplinary research are examined in the paper. The features of each methodological principle are defined. The proposed “synthetic” methodologies in economics and sociology directed to the removal of restrictions of each principle are discussed. Finally, the prospects of complementarity of methodological individualism and holism are analyzed as promising method for interdisciplinary research in economics and sociology.
