- Abstract
Pio Baroja (1872-1956) stands out amid the famous Spanish writers as the author of three novels in which Russian characters not only make an appearance, but are presented in a large variety; Baroja's interest in them stems specifically from them being Russian. The novels in question are A City of Fog (1909), The World Is Ainsi (1912) and The Perverted Sensuality (1920). Another remarkable and characteristic feature is that Baroja turned to the Russian Theme at a very early stage: in 1890 he published thirteen newspaper articles under the title Russian Literature.
